Lucky for you we still have a few spots left!!!!

Join us this weekend for our wonderful weekend intensive: Thai Massage for the Table!! This course is the perfect addition to a practicing Massage Therapist’s growing toolbox or to the rehabilitating touch of a Physical Therapist!

Thai Massage for the Table will combine the stretch of an in depth sports massage with the art of Eastern healing all while on the table!  This makes it easy to create a new routine for a table massage practice or physical therapy treatment.

Massage Therapists and Physical Therapists will appreciate the emphasis placed on body mechanics and sequencing that makes it easy on a therapist’s body while giving a client the ultimate full body treatment!  Come see what it’s all about!

We all have moments when a certain scent hits us and a distinct memory comes rushing in, or a time when a smell so wonderfully delicious makes our tummy growl.  The power of smell is not to be underestimated.  It’s quite an amazing thing, and as a wellness practitioner that can work very well in your favor.

In Thai Yoga Massage the use of massage oil is sparse, but essential oils are a wonderful addition to a session.  However, because of the power of smell it’s important to be aware of the mood or emotion that a particular scent will invoke.

For Focus & Center: Frankincense, Lavender, Rosemary, Petit Grain, Cedarwood

Soothing & Relaxing: Cedar, Orange, Rose, Sandalwood, Bergamot, Clary Sage

Energizing & Stimulating: Grapefruit, Lemon, Peppermint, Pine, Eucalyptus, Lime, Mandarin

Certain essential oils can be harsh when undiluted and used directly on the skin, but there are many ways to effectively use them.  Infuse with water as a spritzer to cleanse the space after a client, use in a beeswax balm (or another carrier) for therapeutic work on hands and feet, use in a room diffuser, combine with your favorite moisturizer for a morning pick-me-up, add a few drops to a humidifier or create your own full-body massage oil.

To guide our students in the use of oils in their own practice we have infused an Aromatherapy & Analgesics workshop into our program!  Click here for more course info.

With an interactive approach, Tanya Sheppard offers a teaching style that has something for everyone.  She is leading several of the courses at Denver Integrative Massage School including Kinesiology and Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Assessment.  So far our class of 13 has loved every lesson she has instructed!!  They are eager and anxious to hear her stories of life experience that make the Anatomy & Physiology related information so real and applicable.

Tanya is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, but would never allow you to refer to her as Doctor.  She is incredibly down to earth and humble even with her 18 years of experience.  Tanya is very easy to approach and knows how to make her knowledge accessible to every learning style.  We are so excited to have her on board and can’t wait to see what other fun teaching techniques she has to offer!

While the cat’s away, the mouse will play!!  Okay, that’s not really what is going on here.  But the students of Denver Integrative Massage School are definitely having a great time during a small break from learning Anatomy & Physiology.  Our inaugural group includes many people with varying backgrounds and experiences.  Many of them are Yogis and Yoga instructors.  Here they are practicing a little partner yoga and AcroYoga.  As you can see, in the short time that class has been in session they have developed a wonderfully bonded surrogate family!!!.

lThe art of surrender is the foundation of Thai Yoga Massage.  This style of massage, like Yoga, was created to prepare the body for meditation, the ultimate surrender.  It opens up the body and allows for lowered blood pressure, improved breathing, a clear and calm mind, and overall relaxation.

In Thailand this style of massage is lovingly called “Lazy Man’s Yoga” because it incorporates the breath of Yoga and during stretch the therapist puts the client into yoga postures.  The recipient is able to let go and relax but still receive the benefits. The idea of surrender that this style of massage creates is something that our culture would greatly benefit from.

The ability to let go of control and still participate is a wonderful quality that can be learned.  Thai Yoga Massage is a great way to incorporate that into your life.   In physical practices we sometimes push beyond our limit and tend to overstretch or we don’t push far enough for change.  The assisted stretches in Thai Yoga Massage can help to create the muscle memory that is necessary for proper stretching in a setting where the recipient is relaxed and not in control.  Thai Yoga Massage creates change including openness in the body and awareness in the mind that can then be carried out in everyday activities.

At Denver Integrative Massage School, our training offers a combination of Eastern and Western techniques with an emphasis on Thai Yoga Massage.  For more information see our site: http://www.denverintegrativemassageschool.com/
